Launching in Saudi Arabia and MENA

How do I launch a beverage in Saudi Arabia?

Start with the importer: in Saudi Arabia an SFDA-registered importer must register the product with SFDA before the first shipment. The label must meet GCC rules in Arabic, the nutrition panel follows SFDA.FD 2233, claims follow SFDA.FD 2333, and sweetened drinks are taxed per litre by sugar content. We prepare the file, adapt the label and manage the filing; SFDA registration starts from AED 18,000 per product.

Can I launch in Egypt, Jordan or Iraq from a UAE production base?

Yes. You can produce in the UAE and sell into Egypt, Jordan and Iraq, as long as each market's registration, labelling and import rules are met through a local importer. Each country has its own food authority — for example NFSA in Egypt and JFDA in Jordan — and its own documents. We plan the markets together from a UAE base, so the recipe and Arabic label serve as many of them as possible.

Do I need a separate registration in every MENA country?

In most cases, yes. GCC countries share labelling rules, but product registration and the importer are national. Outside the GCC, Egypt, Jordan and Iraq have their own systems. A file built to GCC rules from the start makes each further registration a parallel track rather than a redesign. We confirm the requirements per product and market before you commit to a launch order.

What Arabic labelling rules apply across the region?

GCC countries apply GSO 9: mandatory label information in Arabic, including product name, ingredients, allergens, net quantity, dates, storage, origin and producer or importer, with a GSO 2233 nutrition panel. Markets outside the GCC have their own standards, which overlap in many places. We design one Arabic and English label base and adapt it per destination — packaging design from AED 8,000 per SKU.

Which MENA market should I enter first?

The one where your product sells best at a price that covers the chain — not the biggest on paper. We look at channel, shelf price, importer availability, registration effort and logistics, then propose an order. Many brands register in the UAE first and add Saudi Arabia as a parallel track. We map it on the free strategy call.

Who acts as importer in Saudi Arabia and other MENA markets?

A locally licensed importer in each country — in Saudi Arabia it must also be registered with SFDA and hold a commercial registration covering food trade. It can be a distributor, your own local entity or a partner. We plan the importer first, because it decides who holds the registration and how your shelf price is built.

Can one production run serve the UAE, Saudi Arabia and other markets?

Often, yes, when the recipe is compliant everywhere and the label base is designed for it. Where labels must differ — importer details, local requirements — we plan the run so it can be split. Production runs at our own and partner facilities, sized to real orders per market; co-packing starts from AED 0.23 per can, materials separate.

Do you guarantee registration in Saudi Arabia or other markets?

No — no one can honestly guarantee it; each national authority makes its own decision. We manage the process, screen the formula, label and claims against the rules of each market before filing, and handle authority questions with your importer, so the usual reasons for refusal are checked before filing.
